Nanoose Community Services Elf Project
Submitted by Nancy McDonald
Once again, following past practice, our awesome group has offered to help the Nanoose Community Services(NCS) Elf Project. They offer a hamper of Christmas cheer to 50+ households here in Nanoose - to our neighbors who need a hands up. Let’s participate and do our small part. Anything we donate would be appreciated - especially for men.
A special request has been made for masks (no surprise) and simple cotton bags to be used in lieu of paper gift wrap. Bags to wrap gifts are needed in all sizes and shapes. On this same bag theme, NCS would like bags that they could pass along to their clients for them to use themselves. Holiday “neutral” bags could then be used for other occasions like birthdays.
We’re not talking fancy bags, but unlined, drawstring bags. Look in your stash! Maybe you and your close “bubble” of quilter friends can work on this together, safely, socially distanced. Other simple ideas are pillowcases again. Small lap or baby quilts are always appreciated but we know how time consuming they are to make. Let’s talk this up at our next Zoom meeting and show others what you have planned.
Any donations need to be finished by November 25th for Elf delivery on December1st. Are you interested in having members drop things at your house? They would then be collected and passed along.

Paying it forward is good for the soul. What is simple for us to make, can bring a smile to others during the holidays, a time of financial stress to families and forced isolation for many. Thank you for supporting our community.
