Invitation from the Victoria Quilt Guild:

Kathy Wylie – Sep 26th - Window Boxes: Inset Thread Lace

Location: Cordova Bay 55+, 5238 Cordova Bay Rd. Victoria

Time 9:15 – 4

Cost: $75.00

Enhance your quilts with the exquisite detail of inset thread lace. In this class, you'll master the technique of creating a simple hand-embroidered thread lace grid and learn how to insert it between the turned-edge holes of a quilt project. You'll start by making a three-inch practice window box using the provided kit fabric and embroidery floss (Kit - $20). Then, you'll move on to a five-block project using your own fabric and floss. Three optional Window Box patterns are available for purchase.

Anyone interested can email Carol Stewart (bruceastewart@shaw.ca) and she can add them to the workshop.

Invitation from the Oceanside Grandmothers to Grandmothers

Hello Nanoose Quilters,

It's Joanne Bardak here from Oceanside Grandmothers to Grandmothers. I wanted to let you know of a couple of events coming up that may be of interest to you:
Nanaimo Grandmothers to Grandmothers is hosting their fabric sale at the Nanaimo Curling Rink on September 26, 2026. Your members may be interested in going as there are great sales on Fabric of all sorts.
On September 25h, the Oceanside Grandmothers to Grandmothers are hosting, along with all the other BC Islands Grandmother Groups, a 20th Anniversary Night Market at Nanoose Place from 5 pm to 8pm.  All are welcome. Although we don't typically ask others to join our sale, I thought that since this event is being hosted right in Nanoose, your group may have some quilts you may want sold on your behalf. If so, let me know and we could figure out the percentage cost for selling your items for you, if you desire. Of course, we are always also looking for donations if anyone in your group is interested in donating a piece to the sale. All of our profits go directly to Stephen Lewis Foundation to assist our Sister Grandmothers in Africa.
At this Night Market, the SLF Anniversary Quilt will be returning to us from Ottawa if some of your members have not seen it yet.
If your group is further interested, we are hosting our Annual Christmas Extravaganza on November 18th and 19th, 2026 at the Bayside Resort in Parksville. Please come shopping!

Thanks so much,
Joanne Bardak

Our History:

Nanoose Quilters began in 2010 when seven keen women took a leap of faith that there would be enough quilters in Nanoose Bay to form a group: the initial 26 members has since grown to 50. We are all enthusiastic quilters who range from beginners to advanced. Our love of fabric and quilting is shared in a supportive community. Quilting journeys are shared with each other, creating friendships along the way. We meet once a month in Nanoose Bay where we have demos, projects, and sew days. Members always bring projects to show, and new notions and patterns are discussed. The charity arm of the group works on providing comfort and warmth through donating quilted items. We are an amazing and fun-loving group who support, encourage and inspire each other in our creativity and love of quilting.
