Ribbons and Stars: 2nd Edition Star Block

ree

It's time for our 2nd edition of our Block of the Month project. Before we get into the details, I can tell you that many of the group do not like the way the 'ribbons' in the pinwheels line up. When we get to that part of our Block of the Month, I'll send out a revised suggestion for that particular block. Additionally, we are organizing our Block of the Month project so that each month shows us how to make a particular block. While this sounds obvious, the original project was designed as a surprise BOM, and many months of work did not produce actual blocks. We are therefore mildly changing the order in which instructions are provided so that we make whole blocks!

OK, and now on to this instalment. We are going to make a Star Block. To do this, we are going to use the original instructions for Month 1 (quarter-square triangles) and part of the original instructions for Month 5 (star block). Don't worry, we will also be making blocks that cover off the other parts in between. Also, our own Andy Vallis has made this block, and we'll include her step-by-step instructions as well. Enjoy!

Thanks Andy for your help and sample for our first block. I am in Victoria for the weekend but hope to have my fabric selection ready to show everyone for the Show & Tell on our Zoom meeting Tuesday.
